Our History

in 2006, Pastor Gary Johnson felt led to establish a preschool at Calvary Chapel Hemet that would serve both the church and the surrounding community. He asked Angie Kubel to help bring that vision to life. Angie joined the church staff and began the process of preparing the school for opening. Over the next year, she worked through the state licensing process and completed the required training and classes necessary to operate a preschool.

After a year of preparation, the vision became reality. On August 13, 2007, the preschool officially opened its doors.

The school began humbly with just four students, but the heart behind it was clear: to provide children with a safe, loving, and distinctly Christian environment where they could be cared for and taught with biblical values.

Over time, the school continued to grow. What began as a small preschool ministry gradually expanded into a broader educational program. As more families from the church and community sought a Christ-centered education for their children, the ministry developed into what is now Calvary Chapel Academy, offering both preschool and elementary education.

Today, the academy continues to carry forward the same original vision—to partner with families in raising children who are nurtured academically, cared for personally, and grounded in the truth of God’s Word.

From its small beginning with four students to the thriving school it is today, Calvary Chapel Hemet Academy remains committed to serving the community and pointing the next generation to Christ.
